Living vicariously thru kids
4 Attachment(s)
My grandson believes the sole reason for living is fishing, photography and botany, and I've been living vicariously thru him.
Yesterday he went "fishing" on the upper Clackamas River, Oregon, and here is what he caught and brought back. He had previously tied the fly in #3 to resemble to the hatching he had seen on a previous trip. |
Your Grandson is wise.
|
I'm not a fishing fan, but I recognise the artistry in creating that fly.
And what wonderful photos. |
Nice pics! Are those wild or stocked? I'm assuming wild since you live in Oregon.

But Oregon does have massive hatchery programs to support the salmon and steelhead fisheries which under heavy pressures from sport- and commercial-fishing, tribal (Native American) treaty rights, and the Endangered Species Act. Talk about controversy... |

When I started this thread, I said:
"My grandson believes the sole reason for living is fishing, photography and botany, and I've been living vicariously thru him." Last March he got a job at a local Nursery, and has been rescuing throw-away plants from the burn pile. He has bought grow-lights for the coming winter, but his home garden is starting to overflow in all directions. |
Wild guess here, but your grandson is single, right?
|
Oh yeah.
|
It's very cool that you mean that in a good way, rather than in a creepy annoying way like stage moms, pageant moms, soccer moms, or little league dads.

My G-son's attempt to carry some of his plants thru the Oregon winter... not sure just one grow-light will be enough.
He's enrolled in the Fisheries Management curriculum at the local community college on the east side of Portland and works weekends at a commercial nursery on the west side of town. So he is driving 60 miles a day, and has only one free day each week. His sleep-debt is accumulating, but Veteran's Day may give some relief, except he wants to go fishing at the coast with his Dad that day too. I guess I'm posting this because I'm very proud of how responsible he has been this year in meeting all his responsibilities and mostly paying his own way. |

A man after my own heart.
No, not grass, but green, live, and keeps you from stepping in mud. What more could you ask? |
Where's the pot?

Under the not-for-Grampa mega grow light behind the false wall.
