Are you ready?
posted this in another discussion, but this deserves a thread of it's own. UT, you totally need to start one, you could call it....the Cellar;
The complexes will be deep underground, airtight, fully self-contained shelters designed to survive virtually any catastrophe, or threat scenario including natural disasters, a nuclear blast, chemical and biological weapons, or even social anarchy. Each self contained shelter complex will comfortably accommodate a community of 172 - 200 people, in spacious quarters, for up to 1 year of autonomous survival to ride out the potential events. Every detail has been considered and planned for. Members need to only arrive before the facility is sealed and secured. more info and application forms; http://www.terravivos.com/secure/secureindex.htm |
I checked out the site. It looks like another underground movement.

yeah I spotted that too Einstein but refrained....
I missed you too dumbass, can't believe all the cool folk are still here. |
Where are you going to get this 3 days of advanced notice that the disaster is coming? Hurricanes are the only thing with that much warning, and then you don't need to go underground, just get out of the path.
|
200 people in a small contained living space, with no windows, I don't think it would work for more than a couple of weeks at best.
200 people who were paranoid and wealthy enough to invest in something like this to begin with, they're gonna be great to hang out with. |
Exactly. Which is why my biodome on the moon will only hold TWO, and maybe a pet.
|
No, wealthy people become whining maggots, under duress.:haha:

I'm happy to relieve any tension, if'n I get a free pass...?
ETA, Glatt - many of the scenarios they suggest would indeed give you the three day notice period, assuming you had the means to get there. In other words the rich would have access to private planes and helicopters and even the middle incomes would be able to ride or off-road in a way that would beat gridlock. Wars give a reasonable amount of notice - of course in the case of unprovoked nuclear attack you're stuffed. But anarchy (however unlikely) grows more slowly than a four minute warning, Solar Flares can be predicted, as can Killer Comets (snigger) and Super Volcanos. I'm not fully buying into this (in a non-literal way; everyone here knows I couldn't afford to really buy into this) but there are some situations in which the super-rich could use facilities like these to protect themselves. We used to have a family plan back in the 80s in the case of The Bomb dropping. Which basically amounted to stay where you are and die, unless it was a weekend when it was stay together and die. I honestly believed what with The Bomb and the IRA I wouldn't live to see the 21st century. But hurray! I did! And it didn't cost me any extra money to do so! |

I watched the "video" which was in fact a computer animation.
I saw no vending machines. Maybe the 132 people include chefs and cleaners etc. I have a chance! |
