A letter from the IRS for my deceased parents
Just got a letter from the IRS for my parents who died in 2008. It reads:
Mr. F. Basil Summers, Deceased & Eleanor Deceased Summers (my mailing address) Dear EFTPS Taxpayer: For your review, on the reverse side of this letter is the Regulation E information, concerning your rights as a taxpayer. Please read this carefully. If you have any questions please call the EFTPS Customer Service at 1-800-316-6541 :right::right::right: |
return it with the message:
"insufficient postage to reach the hereafter" |
Got one like that last year from from the French equivalent of IRS for my father who died in 1983. Told them that he couldn't get out of heaven, that they were notified at the time of his death and were welcome to move their asses down to the basement where they kept papers archives to verify it.

Hey, they gave you a number.
Call, speak to this CSR, and have them listen to the name. "Mr. F. Basil Summers, Deceased & Eleanor Deceased Summers" "Now, you have them listed as DECEASED in your computer. Since you insist on causing me emotional distress, and since they are no longer at this address, you need to change the mailing address." And make them change the address to the cemetery. This worked when my mother died. |

Is that 111 with or without the SlimJim transformation?

Well, it's nice to know that, according to the IRS, we have certain rights as deceased taxpayers. Government stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Even in our rinky-dink law firm, our software is capable of distinguishing between those who are no longer with us and NOT send them mail.

IIRC - you can be audited, well your estate anyway, even after death.

Quote:
The government publishes a database containing SSN's of all deceased persons, so IRS certainly knows your parents are no longer living. (But the IRS computer may not recognize they are both deceased, as an explanation of the wording of the letter) I believe at least one group of taxpayers (small businesses) are now required to use EFTPS for their tax returns. So, the IRS may just be informing the Administrator of your parents Estate (or the current Financial Officer of their business) of IRS proposing changes, or errors, or incomplete situations regarding their (final) returns. |
It's obvious, isn't it?
The IRS has figured out how to tax your 'eternal reward'. |
You mean the IRS is going to take some of my virgins?

Oh the horror!
|
Well, as they say, the only certain things in life are death and taxes.

Well, that's how they got Willie Nelson.
He thought he owed "Texas". |
I wish I owed Texas.
