What's touching your heart today?
So, I just got back from my friend's son's wake. He was in dress blues and there was a guard standing by his casket. It was very sad, parents should not have to experience the death of their child.
I heard that a few people complained to a coworker of the mom about how they are pacifists or oppose the war, or have some other major social malfunction that precludes them from offering sympathy to bereaved parents. (Get the fuck over yourself) I'm not for the war either, but that's got nothing to do with this boy dying in Afghanistan. WTF? How conscientious can you be if your main thought at a time like this is your puny moral convictions rather than how his parents must feel seeing him for the last time.
Tonight one of my friends described how the boy (young man) had built a fence around her garden with his dad, just a month or so ago, two weeks before he shipped out for his second tour of duty. She is going to affix a small Marine Corps flag to the gate.
There's a bunch of other stuff, but I'll leave it out.
