Aussie censorship

Beating Aussie censorship.

That's interesting thanks Bruce.

xoxoxoBruce 10-12-2010 10:02 PM

I knew you'd want to get to the really dirty stuff.

Aliantha 10-13-2010 12:10 AM

har har!

Actually, I was interested to see he chose a link to do with euthenasia. I was unaware that such a topic might be banned. I thought it was only going to do things like child porn and other inappropriate types of material.

xoxoxoBruce 10-13-2010 12:15 AM

I read an article saying the people were sold the idea of exactly what you thought, while the truth is it covers more, but nobody know how much yet. Then again, how much may be a moving target.

Aliantha 10-13-2010 12:21 AM

I don't know if it's even going to go through. I don't think the legislation has even passed yet, and if that's the case, it's not likely to. I really don't think the government has thought this through very well in any case. It's a bad bad idea, and it's not likely to do them any favours.

That being said, it's clearly a pretty simple thing to get around it, so if you set the principle of it aside, then it doesn't really matter. The only thing to worry about in this case if they're going to make it illegal to view the banned pages. If not, what's the point? If so, I think they're going to be in very big trouble.

Speaking of a related censorship issue down under, this was interesting:

Tony Abbott under fire over gun photo 'censorship'

From Mike Yon's FB page.

xoxoxoBruce 10-13-2010 08:52 AM

They were actually censored because he had a woodie. :haha:

Aliantha 10-13-2010 04:44 PM

Abbott was the one that didn't want the pics released. The reason I would think is because it was a liberal (right leaning) government - of which he is the current leader in opposition - which brought in the strict gun control laws we have here in Australia and I suppose he wouldn't want to seem like a hypocrit to all the people opposed to these laws.

He's having a hard enough time not looking like a tool.

TheMercenary 10-13-2010 11:15 PM

Well given that.

He looks like a total tool.

casimendocina 10-14-2010 07:12 AM

Anyone with half a brain recognises that Tony Abbott is an ego-driven wanker (all my attempts at being balanced go out the window where tools like him are concerned).
