i.. i live?

Hey everybody. It's the end of the semester for me, so I actually have a few minutes to actually breathe and say hi. I may or may not have passed second semester organic chemistry, but them's the breaks. It's finals week and the next two days I have exams but today is a freebie to study and recoup a little bit.

I'll be taking a summer class, but otherwise - what should I do with myself this summer? Any thoughts?

Study Buddhism. Meditate. Smoke Pot. Repeat.

If you want your summer to seem a bit longer you should make a list of things you want to do and then whenever you are bored you will always have ideas. Some things I'm going to try to do this summer..

*Learn an instrument
*Workout (P90X is legit)
*Learn how to dance like swing or salsa (students can get discounts at some studios)
*Slip n Slide (this is REALLY fun)
*Grill
*Concerts
*Go Karts (real Go Karts...not kidde karts)
*Skydive
*Zoo or Arboretum (good date ideas)
*Golf
*Hooka
*Fish
*Paintball
*Comedy Clubs
*Amusement Parks
*Bike
*Learn to some recipes for cooking
*Garden or growing some plants
*Volleyball and other summer sports
*Horse Racing
*Baseball Games
*Swim
*Triathon or Marathon
*Books or magazines

Just curious

I'm attempting to learn guitar. It's stereotypical but guitar and piano (or keyboard) are two instruments that are fun if you want to play by yourself or with a few friends every once in a while. I already know how to play bass guitar but it's not that fun if you're not in a band (this means I'm not that good at it). I'm also attempting to work on my singing voice but my roommates have assured me that I'm a lost cause and I'm inclined to agree with them. Other instruments are either too expensive or takes too much time to actually get decent enough to sound good. If I have more time and dedication I would love to learn accordion or some obscure instrument that sounds amazing when you get really good at it.

I've been doing P90X off and on for about a year and a half now. My semester also just ended so I have the time and energy to do it everyday and you can see improvements in a short period of time. If you do it and have a good diet you can get ripped as hell.

Just watch horse racing and maybe bet a few dollars, nothing big. I would like to learn how to ride a horse, I've never done it, but once again, I don't have the dedication or desire to ever actually race them.

That's a pretty decent list you've got there. Brace yourself.

I do a lot of those things already: I play a few instruments, work out regularly but don't dance because i have a bad back, grill often, am too big to slip n' slide(built rather like a linebacker), go to concerts, don't gokart but do go to arcades that have them and play games, skydiving is expensive and a little scary so i'll pass on that for now, do go to the zoo once in a while, hate golf, will consider hookah, go fishing once in a blue moon (but this is CA and licenses are expensive! $50, so you'd better mean it!), paintball I might consider but that requires a good group I don't have (I'd rather play Team Fortress 2 anyways), will consider comedy clubs, go to amusement parks a couple times a year, don't have a bike yet but am saving for one, cook frequently, gardening i avoid for the sake of the plants, go out and play catch with a football and kick a soccer ball and play badminton with a friend or two regularly but can't do too much volleyball cause of the jumping and back issues, can't afford to gamble on horses much but am planning on a summer casino run, the nearest baseball team is.. the SF Giants... watching a losing game can be fun and all, but you know, no way to a triathalon or marathon - i can't run, and i read books and magazines both on paper and via kindle CONSTANTLY.

*deep breaths*

So as you can see, I'm still at loose ends for things to do. :) Thanks for the suggestions!

I also do a bit of volunteer stuff, I may do a bit more - I just read about a local "computers for schools and poor people" program that may need some assistance. Also big on my list is a temp job or similar to bring in some cash for the summer.

And getting my ham radio setup going again. It's antenna season!

Oh, and as for jimhelm's idea.. Yeah, did I mention I'm in California too? :D But smoking bad. Meditation good.

Any other summertime suggestions?

Then start Insanity the following week. I guarantee you at the end of it you will have never been in better shape in your entire life. or you'll be dead.

Impressive. Most people our age, at least that I know of, would consider it a successful summer if they did any more than three of those...

Haha, I might lean towards the second option.

Well, I'm not getting any younger. I'll be 30 in a couple months, and I'm doing my best to live while I've got it. Be ready for death, because it can come at any time and you may never know what hit you. Morbid, maybe.

No, don't "be ready" that's a waste of time. you are so right it could just happen, so live, live, live.......
