Amazing video of a rescue dog
Someone on the beardie website I have been frequenting lately posted a link to this video:
http://www.godvine.com/Meet-the-Scar...-Hug-1087.html Now, as you can imagine, I was slightly put off by the name of the site, but they'd raved this vid so I gave it a go. It is very sad, but it does have a happy ending. It concerns a little dog who was about to be put to sleep at a shelter. She was unapproachable and savage. One of the people at the shelter decided not to allow that to happen. She saved her from being euthanized and instead called her dog behaviourist friend in. The video shows the dog being won round. It is really very moving. |
What a shame, I can imagine what the dog's been through. :(

Awful. But how amazing was that guy? And to see her at the end just rolling about the floor like a happy dog was incredible.
The bit where she was licking his face really got me. It reminded me a little of the way J's little rescue collie wouldn't ever try to kiss/lick faces because at some point he'd probably been told off for it. And he'd also learnt that hugs and cuddles = horrible abandonment. It's only really the last few months that Lucky has started allowing proper full on hugs and has started occasionally licking faces. Such a bonny lad he is. And I'm so glad he's with the two Js, they're so good for him. |
Once the little guy figured out the man wasn't going to hurt him, it was full speed ahead.

I waited to watch this video for when I was in a good frame of mind and wouldn't sob my face off.
I sobbed my face off anyway. Sweet baby. How can anyone make an animal so perfectly suited to affection so incredibly frightened? I loved seeing her first wag her tail, and when she snuggled down to sleep...omg. Thanks Dana. |
It would be nice to think this dog was adopted happily and not put down.
|
I wondered. I would've liked to see it thriving later, groomed long hair intact.
Is that not what happened? |
She wasn't put down. Not sure if they found her a home yet.
