1/25/2003: Gruesome elephant attack

http://cellar.org/2003/elephantattack.jpg

Whoa. Whoa. All you can say is whoa.

The ultra-skinny guy is not doing that on purpose. The elephant is killing him. The elephant has picked him up and is literally swinging his body like a toy.

The guy's name is Gopalakrishnan, and he's the trainer. They're in India, and they were supposed to be on their way to a festival of some sort.

It turns out there's a rash of elephant attacks in India, which they say is due to two things: one, intense heat; two, mistreatment by trainers. So perhaps Mr. Gopalakrishnan is getting his due, or perhaps it's just a bizarre and horrifying event... we don't know. All we know is that he died.

WHOA.

This was a photoshop on FARK. A flame war erupted because certain sensitive members thought it in poor taste. It got pulled shortly after posting to the main board.

My image was running third place at the time. Arghhh..

Given that this is all occuring right outside of "BEAUTY TREATMENTS AND HAIRSTYLING", could it not be said that Mr. Gopalakrishnan is experiencing a bad hair day?

Anyone know what they did with the elephant? None of the news items I dug up said anything about it. I imagine they didn't give him an award for innovative trainer-twirling.

The elephant gets my sympathy. Some how its not to hard to imagine that the guy deserved it.

Does the Indian Postal Service use elephants?
