LEAVE!
Leave
O! Leave. Yellow, red, orange But mostly yellow. You all start green, Or sometimes red, And end up brown, To make humus And feed your parent tree. O! Leafs. I rake you And blow you And drag you on my tarp To the roadside, Never burn you. I don’t want to warm the globe. O! Leaves. From my maple trees You fall to the ground, Every fall. Maple Leafs, But not a hockey team, But when I am done with you My body feels like I just played three periods. O! Leaf. Beauty, Pain Oxygen creating, Wind rustling Shady, in the good way Peaceful Fire hazard Life giver I want to live Where you surround me And can stay Where you lay |
