Hamburger Helper
Did anyone notice they put less noodles/sauce into the box of hamburger helper? It's down to 158 grams from 200. The price is the same (of course). On the box it now has other assorted foods, as a suggested serving; one way to trick the consumer that your pound of hamburger isn't going as far as it used to.

.79 lb of hamburger you mean.

Cutbacks are happening everywhere.
It's in keeping with the reduction of the number of letters in the name of the product previously known as "Hamburger Helper", now known as "Helper". |
Try this - doesn't take that long to make, either

Why is it called hamburger helper, when it isn't for making hamburgers? *confused*
|
Ground beef helper didn't have the alliteration.
|
You would call it Mincemeat Helper.
|
Mincemeat Mate.
|
Ahhhh. Ok, that makes sense. And, yeah, 'mate' rather than helper :)
|
Basically yeah to the above. I use a 1/4 pound of beef and pork, add fresh mushrooms and onion plus a cup of frozen vegetables. Now that'll feed a family.

I was recently told about a recipe called sausage stretcher which does much the same thing with bangers (cue doubles entendres).

Welcome to our new game, "Is that a term on Urban Dictionary?" (sausage stretcher is not on Urban Dictionary.) |
Ahh yeah. 'Stretcher' would be even more likely than 'mate', thinking about it.

On the other hand, "undertoad" is. The most popular definition is roughly what one would expect, referencing The World According to Garp.
The second definition, however... Quote:
