Another remake/adaptation of an ongoing series

So, apparently British crime drama Broadchurch is going to be remade for Fox. David Tennant will be reprising his role as the outsider detective who comes into the small community in which the central crime is committed, though this time he'll be playing an American.

Given that the second series of Broadchurch is yet to film and air, we may end up with them running alongside each other as we did with Being Human and its adaptation. That was a really interesting experience, because it offered a direct comparison and highlighted some of the differences between our two television cultures and conventions.

I'm interested to see what happens with it. Though, unlike with Being Human, the creator of the original is heavily involved in the remake as executive producer, it should still be fun to see how the two sister shows differ.

Here's a trailer for the original series:

I do urge those who haven't watched it to give it a go. However good the remake will be, it won't have Olivia Coleman in it and her performance is outstanding.

Here's the BBC America promo:

How weird would that be, if the American and British series diverged significantly, with the same actor still playing the main role in both? He'd be playing different characters, but only kind of.

They should make a British version of House, starring Hugh Laurie.

David Tennant is not a man I could take seriously.
