Parent vs Step-Parent

Parent vs Step-Parent, this can cause friction, friction causes heat, heat can cause explosions.

This is Symphony Hall in Boston where my graduation ceremony was held, because they was nothing appropriate at the school. Nice place but not all that big, so each graduating student got two tickets. That's all, just two. We don't give a rats ass about siblings, or Grandma who paid you tuition. You're married? OK, pick another person to come along too. More than 2 parents/step-parents? Your problem, pick two.

Warning: I don't know the end of this story. :Warning
One of the guys in my class whose parents split and both remarried was in a big bind. Dad was a yacht sail designer, step-dad a big shot at Timken bearing, and weren't friendly. His problem was that each of the four parents had sent him a check every month, presumably unbeknownst to the other three. Kept us in Lowenbrau Dark, thank you very much.
But how do you tell someone who thought they had been your sole support for years, they can't have a ticket. And when you do tell two out of four, what do you say when the other two start screaming about how they earned that ticket. Wealthy people aren't shy about demanding what the feel is their due, nor about confronting someone who they feel is stealing it.
I don't know how it played out, as graduation day was a clusterfuck combination of my parents coming to town(the rest of my kin grateful they didn't have to), loading furniture and shit I was sending home into a trailer from a 4th floor walk-up, graduating, and craziness.

But how do you handle the eventual butt-hurts?

Nobody comes, including yourself if need be. You don't actually have to show up to your own graduation ceremony. I skipped mine.

Yeah, we had to show to get the paper without a lawyer and act of congress. We had to make every class, 9:30 AM through 4:30 PM, 5 days a week. Miss 3 classes without a medical note during the academic year, and you're out for the year without a tuition refund. Like being in an army you pay for.
