9/12: World reaction
The usual haunts that I have for news images are 99% full of the images that we have already seen. This includes the international image galleries. There are a few images that we haven't seen, which is the international reaction.
http://cellar.org/pictures/moscowflowers.jpg Moscow: laying flowers at the US embassy. http://cellar.org/pictures/lisbonflags.jpg Lisbon: Portugal starts an official 48 hours of mourning by moving flags to half staff. http://cellar.org/pictures/brazilpapers.jpg Brazilians look at newspaper headlines. http://cellar.org/pictures/kenyan.jpg Kenya: a woman mourns. http://cellar.org/pictures/vaclavhavel.jpg Czech president Vaclav Havel prepares to place flowers at the US embassy. http://cellar.org/pictures/strasbourg.jpg Strasbourg: EU member states flags all at half staff. http://cellar.org/pictures/robinw.jpg And one non-international shot: Robin Williams gives blood in San Francisco. |
I don't know why but this series has moved me more than any of the other images I've seen.
I worry that I'm too good at shutting my feelings for things like this, and for my grandmother who passed away a day or two after my wedding. I'm not sure if I ever let things 'sink in' |
OT images
Ch. 5 (FOX) seems to be still out.. here.

Tony, those were excellent images.
After seeing the Palestinians dancing in the streets yesterday, it was touching to see others around the world joining us in mourning. |
Tony - you were so right to post these, especially since some are from unexpected places. I agree that it is very moving to view the international reaction. We are all together on this on this planet.
|
Tony,
You may want to take down the images with your dishnetwork info on them. Or, at lease blot out some of the numbers. These can be stolen and used. |
Those were serge's images but I've edited his post to remove the last one. Hope you don't mind serge.

just hope they are careful with those flowers in moscow. i'm sure some of them are well intended but some may very well contain plutonium. the czech flowers: those are more trustworthy.

I also recall the photos of various groups celebrating. What impressed me most about the celebration in Gaza was how Americanized the celebrating kids were - one one in a Lakers Shaq jersey, another had a NY Yankee's cap; all were completely normal US teenager clothes.

Hell. Those kids probably don't even know what they say or mean! They were probably donated by some left wing nut job.
God Bless the USA. And lets all pray for peace someday. But until then, keep the fight going for freedom! |

Sad. 6 years later and look at how the world's opinion towards the USA has changed.
Very sad indeed. |
