Draft Day

so, it's 12:32 and the chargers took Eli Manning. Despite his stating that he will not play there.

they booed him.

I think he has the right not to play there. I also think the chargers did the right thing in drafting him anyway. now they just need to trade him.

Already done--to the Giants.

Who are the Eagles going to take with #28? I say go with a CB.

blue 04-24-2004 01:51 PM

Shawn Andrews by trading up to #16?! Jesus, the guy is huge!! And asleep in his BIO picture?

blue 04-24-2004 01:57 PM

I hope the Pack takes J.P. Losman at #25. Rather see him than a Couch trade. J.P. by reports I've read is the more athletic of the 3 taken already, but is cocky and has the maturity of a 9 year old, has a gun for an arm....sounds a little like Favre 12 years ago :)

I think the Giants gave up the fucking farm for Eli, the 3 were really rated pretty close, and they throw out a #1, #3 & #5 for Manning? The guy very well may be a franchise QB for the next 15 years, but DAMN...you had your pick of Roethlisberger or Rivers and keep all your pics.

blue 04-24-2004 02:54 PM

FUCK!!!!

Fucking Bills! Fuckers. sigh, maybe we can trade down....what say Eagles fans...Steven Jackson is still on the board. Bastards

lumberjim 04-24-2004 02:55 PM

I MISSED IT

what did they give the cowboys for that slot?

Undertoad 04-24-2004 02:59 PM

Bills get: Dallas' first-round pick (No. 22), which they use to select Tulane QB J.P. Losman.
Cowboys get: Buffalo's second-round pick (No. 43), fifth-round pick (No. 144) and its first-round pick in the 2005 draft.

I think the boys got the better o' this one.

blue 04-24-2004 03:03 PM

That CANNOT be right?!?! Noone give up that for the 22nd pick and the 4th QB taken?! The first rounder must be a typo.

OK, whew..Stephen Jackson & Ben Troupe are still on the board...IMO we need neither position, but if we draft Gamble (a position of need), then just shoot me now. Trade down! Get a couple more pics. Course maybe we could trade Jackson or Troupe. This is turning out to be a bummer of a day...not real happy with our GM/Coach right now.....thank god we didn't trade up say 12 spots for a tackle or something ;-)

Ooops, just realized the first rounder would be in exchange for not having it this year, still I think you're right Toad about who got the short end.

lumberjim 04-24-2004 03:15 PM

crap.. i was hoping for Jackson. the boys need a back. no way he's still there for the 43rd pick.

i hope the bills suck this year, and there are good prospects for 05 in the draft.

go cowboys

the packers suck

so do the eagles, but they'll probably be wearing the ring this time next year. theirs is more of a sentimental sucking.

blue 04-24-2004 03:30 PM

Actually it's more of a suckiness kind of sucking.

You're a Cowboys fan?!? that would explain A LOT. ICE BOWL BABY!

We already have our 12 championships and 3 rings...oooo, wait, Packers on the clock (of course they go to commercial)........and?....with the 25'th pick......they go to another fucking commercial...can they do that?...ok, here it is......cut back to ESPN...and...some more commercials, like 10 fucking commercials!! ;-(.....laptop battery low warning message...got to pee...cmon ESPN! Ok they're back...and they pick....

Ahmad Carrol? a 195 corner barely taller than me?

<-----BANG! Blue58 has left the planet.

Steelers took a big ol QB.

Chris Snee didn't quite make the first round but he's with the Giants so he'll have a rooting section anyway.

Griff 04-26-2004 09:10 AM

• Giants guard Chris Snee -- Undoubtedly the most bizarre story of draft weekend was the news that new Giants head coach Tom Coughlin drafted Snee in the second round out of Boston College. Snee happens to be the father of Coughlin's grandchild. Snee and Coughlin's daughter, Katie, had a child together last fall. Coughlin says Snee was drafted strictly based on his football potential and that makes sense. But the situation could be unavoidably uncomfortable for both Snee, Coughlin and Katie Coughlin in the years ahead. What happens some day if Coughlin has to cut or trade his daughter's significant other? Or take a hard-line stance -- the only kind he knows how to take -- regarding Snee's performance? Some how you just would have thought that Coughlin wanted to side step those potentially thorny issues if at all possible. For his part, Snee might have been better off landing anywhere else in the NFL but with the G-Men. Whatever he accomplishes in New York, his relationship with the head coach will be part of the backdrop. cnnsi
