Kenyan authorities are set to carry out further studies on this little one but it sure looks like a genetics problem. That there is your basic unstriped zebra calf. The folks there say they have no records of it ever happening before. http://cellar.org/2004/unstripedzebra2.jpg |
I don't know about you guys, but that is one sorry lookin critter, in a sort of "aww, how cute..." kind of way

What's strange is that judging from the second picture, the baby zebroid is striped; it's just that both colors are white. And what's that in the first picture, the family's pet duck? |
White is the new black.
|
I wish we could see its eyes...looks like an albino to me.

His muzzle looks kind of dark, no? Would be very pink, were he albino, I think.
Dang spiffy, though |

For the movie Sheena, they wanted Tanya Roberts' character to be riding around on a zebra. But Zebras don't like it when you try to ride them. So instead, they got a white horse, and painted stripes on it. [/trivia] |
Someone should throw a rope around his neck and drag him into the evolution thread.

Was this the zebra found on Neverland ranch with all those bleaching agents?

I sure hope this isn't the African Prophecy Equivalent to the White Buffalo ...

I'm not sure I have this right, but don't zebras have white stripes? I seem to remember reading somewhere that zebras are born black, and develop the stripes later. If that's true, then this little white fella is truly unique....and he's so cuuuuute!
I see the stripes in the second picture as well...but check out his little muzzle...he looks like he's grinning, to me....wonder what he's thinking? Sidhe |
That ain't cute, this is cute.:)
