Another example of how we have no concept of what it's like to live in one of these war zones. Imagine having a shell come right through your living room. You've have to find some really big artwork to put on the wall to cover up those holes. I think I would move 100 miles away for every hole in the wall that I encountered.

Somebody spent good hours on this house... look at the unusual door frame. Someone spent good time plastering and painting the wall.

they also had a weird electrician -- look at the crazy outlets :)
Do they run on 120AC there?

I wouldn't repair or cover the holes.

I was trying ot work out which direction the shell came fom. There is shrapnel/blast mark on the inside but that woudl mean there is another hole in the other wall and then the blast mak shoudl have been there.....Can just imagine on the phone: "hello, how are you?" *BOOM* "oh damn another shell jsut went though the living room be right back"

It could have had a timed fuse or it could have come through an open window.

You two are missing something obvious...

The round went through the ALL the walls, and then kept going. It didn't detonate anywhere inside the house because, if it had, we wouldn't be looking at a picture of a house. We would be looking at picture of a pile of smoking rubble instead. :)

you've got a point but
a: where does all teh shrapnel pockmarks come frmo then (bits of pervious walls seems unlikely)
b: why didn't it explode, it is a frigging concrete wall after all.
c: blast mark

Looking at it, I doubt it was a main gun round. I'm not SURE what the caliber of the Merkiva tank is (It's either 105 or 120mm), and you basically have 3 types of rounds

1)HEAT - High explosive Anti Tank
2)Discarding Sabot anti tank - no explosives, makes a hole - this is a "Maybe"
3)HESH - High Explosive S head - again, it'd do a lot more damage than that

What I'd guess is that it was either an Armored Personnel Carrier round (typically 20mm) - The media often calls them "Tanks", but they aren't,

OR

It a round from one of the smaller guns on the tank - the COAX, or the commanders weapon. On US tanks, that would be .50 Caliber, and if they were using one of the high explosive rounds...
