I was just thinking. As a community of almost 2000 registered members, we have the opportunity to approach businesses and negotiate discounts.

If restaurants will give a %20 discount for Entertainment Book subscribers or AAA subscribers, why not the Cellar?

Travel discounts like this one could be negotiated.

How about a Cellar cruise?

Neat idea, but dear gods, man, we can't get people to one party a year ...

Rock Steady 06-18-2005 01:31 PM

There may be thousands of registered members, but only a few dozen of us are active.

And I only use my AAA card once a year. Registered members is the key.

BigV 06-19-2005 12:20 AM

And I don't visit use my AAA discount to save money on my trip to Disneyland because I want to share the visit with all the other AAA members. sheesh, except for MrsV and richlevy I don't even know any other AAA members, yet the "benefits" accrue to me.

I agree. There likely is some sales flea that would like to have an entree to this captive bunch and would be willing to trade a portion of his margin for the chance to make it up in volume.

The key is finding what "qualified" prospects we comprise.

That, is a good question.

Rock Steady 06-19-2005 12:37 AM

Your AAA card is renewed every so often. You carry it in your wallet.

Many Cellar members haven't been around in a long time and are not reminded of this place. The connection is much more loose. I'm skeptical that the member list is worth anything.

You are overlooking the fact that one is born every minute, and some of those grow up to be salesmen.

Not to mention, would you really want to hang out with a bunch of Dwellars in the middle of the ocean for a week? I like some of you folks and all, but I think the novelty would wear off after 3 days, and people would start going overboard.

Rekindling a whole NEW level of novelty. That's got real potential. They got skeet shooting too.

Frankly, I would fear more for the other passengers than for the Dwellars.

Never more than one at a time, and somehow, never within the view of one of the numerous security cameras on board ship ...

Agree with all of you on the boat thing. You go out there and you are trapped no matter what unfolds. I never like boat parties for even 4 hours. Did a few of those on the Ohio, Allegheny, and Monogahalia. You can't just bolt like on land, you are there for the duration. I can't imagine a multi-day cruise.

BigV 06-19-2005 09:46 PM

From what I've heard, you're not gonna get any tail that way.

BigV 06-19-2005 10:08 PM

Funny. :)

That member isn't included in this or any other offer.
