Sandra Day O'Connor Retires!!!

Holy Crap This sucks!!! Bush will appoint another scumbag to replace her.

O'Connor was on the right side of the eminent domain and the medical marijuana issues. So was Rehnquist and he'll be leaving too. This is a very dark day for America.

The insane asshole, Scalia, is still in the SC and Bush will give him more jerkoff buddies who want to mix church and state while violating every part of the Constitution.

Yeah--um...but why do we have all these threads on SDO'C????

Radar 07-01-2005 11:19 AM

I'm not sure why anyone else posted a thread, especially in another forum. This clearly belongs in "current events" and not in "politics" or anywhere else.

1 -- Dude, you were scooped. 8:06 vs 8:10. Sowwy. It is both Political and Current Event material.

2 -- You've obviously not been paying attention.

Radar 07-01-2005 12:02 PM

1. -- 4 minutes isn't "scooped" and I was writing my post so I didn't see yours.

2. -- It belongs in Current Events.

3. -- You're a dick.

Be nice, Radar. You are, after all, like the Pope to some of us!

cowhead 07-01-2005 12:28 PM

yeah pretty grim over-all.. why couldn't she have just held out? I mean freakin Rehnquist is still sitting with freakin THYROID cancer! oh.. yeah. on a side note. have an of you read this guy http://jameshowardkunstler.typepad.c...erfuck_nation/ . good stuff, well I like the way he writes anyway (don't hold that against him).

the things that really bothers me is that there just doesn't seem to be anything that I can do to stop any of this real decline of western civilization, and I've tried to argue quite a few points that to me seem glaringly obvious to some 'new conservitive' people I know.. and.. and.. they won't listen to any of it, it's always back to the bait and switch, keep repeating the same line over and over and over.. (the thing is.. I for one still know it's not true.. and am not going to change my mind by a few weeks of psychobabble.. years perhaps....:) ) or the blatant name calling. it just seems that there is a huge cultural war brewing and it's just going to be very interesting to see it all come crashing down.. heh just think when I was in my teens and doing the '2nd wave punk thing' that's all I wanted, now that I'm older and suchlike, a little shake up would be nice, but I'm not ready to live out of a tent... anyway, sorry no coffee yet.

What do you call it? I am willing to have this point arbitrated by breakingnews, our resident media insider.

If you think this is NOT Political, (which boggles the mind, given the tenor of your body of work in the cellar), then perhaps you should slow down on the LJ's advice in #4.

Yeah, I got one, but you're not my type. Thanks just the same.

Justice Rehnquist is a gentleman. Ladies first.

Also, if he can hold on long enough, it will allow for the new justice to get settled in before a new chief justice will need to be chosen. There's maneuvering related to that as well.

Elspode 07-01-2005 01:10 PM

Don't worry, I'm sure that the appointees to come will be fair and even handed when it comes to issues such as abortion, separation of church and state and issues regarding corportions versus the common folk.

Let me know when ya'll can stop laughing long enough to breathe again.

plthijinx 07-01-2005 01:13 PM

bwaahahahahahaha! oh__my__god! i'm going to have to log back in at the airport when i get there. hehehe! BigV, your on a roll man!

melidasaur 07-01-2005 07:42 PM

Supreme Court justices never act/think/do in a way that you think they would... they are very unpredictable. Look at the Warren Court... Warren wasn't appointed to be a crusader for civil rights - boy, were they wrong. Thank you Warren Court! :thumb:

richlevy 07-01-2005 09:38 PM

My fantasy is that Bush nominates another hard-line female conservative, and after taking office she comes out of the closet.

plthijinx 07-01-2005 10:29 PM

that would be classic
