Croc eats human

2 Attachment(s)
These are pictures of a Crocodile caught last year in the Siak River in Riau province central Sumatra Indonesia not far from where I am working.

Apparently several villagers had gone missing over a period of time and the croc was the prime suspect. As you can see the suspicions were confirmed.<O:p</O:p

Did they find the clock?

On another topic - did they have to cut the croc like that? They could have gotten a couple of pairs of nice cowboy boots outa that beast.

Damn that's nasty :vomitblu:

Thought I hadn't seen much of Steve Irwin on TV recently...

Hobbs 08-16-2005 09:25 AM

OK, everyone has rubber gloves on except for the dude who is holding the leg. :greenface I would make sure I would never...ever shake his hand again.:vomitblu:

What about the picture? It shows a different species of crocodile, the saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus), and was taken in Borneo in 1997.

Holy crap, i didnt see the guy holding the leg! And I was eating! Noooooo!

This is my exact worst nightmare. To be eaten by a reptile: how very embarrassing! Really, this is one of my very biggest fears. I'm also afraid of combines. Have you ever seen what those things can DO to a person? Wow.

What's really embarrassing is that they catch the croc, cut it open, extract your remains, do a DNA ID on your parts, then announce who you were (posting some bad high school or collage snapshot of you on the news). Now everyone know who you are and that you were unable to outrun the slowest, dumbest animimal on the face of the earth. Up until then, you someone who just disapeared.

Have I mentioned the guy without a glove holding the leg? Does this not gross anyone else out?!?!?!?

dar512 08-17-2005 09:55 AM

Probably weren't taken on land. I think it's more likely they were in the water.

Trilby 08-17-2005 09:59 AM

I would never, never, never swim anywhere freakin' NEAR waters that contained croc's or 'gators. NEVER!

And the guy holding the leg without a glove is pretty puke-inducing. Look what the croc's stomach juices did to the skin! Gads, it's green. GADS!

That's probably not his first dead body.

Last night some property got dropped off for a patient.

One of our new staff was searching it.

The family member let me know that it was his hat, and not the patient's in the bag, and he wanted it back.

So I reached into the bag, grabbed the ball cap, and went to take it to the family member.

As I was reaching into the bag, NewGuy was yelling "Don't touch that, don't touch that! You don't have gloves on!!"

"Kid, it's not the patient's hat. It's his dad's. I know it doesn't really mean anything but dad looks relatively clean. Watch people around here. Folks that have been here a long time don't bother to wear gloves unless it's really bad, like the stuff has been pissed on. We've already been exposed to everything and it hasn't killed us."

While a human in decent shape can indeed outrun a crocodile in a straight sprint, crocs are not what I'd call slow. They're not sprinters, they're stealth hunters; they won't chase down prey, but they can lunge forward very quickly to catch prey by surprise, which is their primary hunting method.

Also, can you _swim_ faster than the croc can, particularly if you don't see it coming until it's close?

Hobbs 08-17-2005 11:41 AM

Ummmm, thanks. It was a joke. I've seen enough Croc Hunter to better. ;)
