Morality quiz in one question

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision.

Remember that your answer needs to be honest yet spontaneous. Please scroll down slowly and give due consideration to each line.

-------------------------
THE SITUATION
You are in New Orleans to be specific. There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical proportions. You are a photo journalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster

The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.

===============================================
THE TEST

Suddenly you see a man in the water. He is fighting for his life trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. Somehow the man looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It's the President, George W Bush.

At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under forever. You have two options- you can save the life of the President, or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo documenting the death of one of the world's most famous men.
===============================================

THE QUESTION
Here's the question, and please give an honest answer. Would you select high contrast colour film or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

I'd find something heavier to throw at him.

Awesome. You had me the whole way. I was already to deconstruct the ethics of the situation ... and ended up laughing out loud in the faculty conference room. Thanks.

Thought it was funnier when it was Hillary, and the question was "What f-Stop would you use?"

Trilby 09-15-2005 01:43 PM

I like Hillary and am totally going to vote for her in '08--Woo-Hoo! Go, Hillary!

Read this to my co-workers. It looked like a morgue in here before.
No change.
Damned red state

Griff 09-15-2005 07:48 PM

That was great! ummm... black and white

marichiko 09-15-2005 09:36 PM

I'd have to go with the Ansel Adams approach and choose black and white. I think W. would want it that way, you know? Then I'd send copies to W.'s Mom to give her something to do with her "beautiful mind."

Then I'd play "Ding Dong, the witch is dead" on my cassette deck as I joined the looters, looking for a gun shop with broken windows. Then I'd go assasinate Dick Cheney after first letting a colleague in on my plan, so he could scoop the New York Times with his black and white photos of that event.

Do I pass? :haha:

The thing is, you can always turn color to black and white, but the other way is much harder.

Not if you're Ted Turner.

Mary Jane and Me 09-17-2005 12:07 PM

lookout123 09-21-2005 12:11 AM

yep, wishing death upon someone always makes you feel better, doesn't it?

SouthOfNoNorth 09-21-2005 07:51 AM

my answer to this is related to my answer for the "peeing in the shower" thread.

i wonder if i could steady the camera with one hand while steadying the stream with another? color would be more appropriate for this situation, i bet.
