10/10/2005: Robotic fish
http://cellar.org/2005/robo-fish.jpg
xoB helps present this set of robotic fish. Three such fish were developed by the University of Essex, and they are shown at the London Aquarium. http://cellar.org/2005/robotfish.jpg http://cellar.org/2005/robotfish2.jpg |
This should greatly ease the workload on real fish someday.
|
This is horrible! We should release these poor robotic fish from captivity, and put them back in the ocean where they belong!
Unless of course, they're fresh water robots. |
um, could we get some laser beams on their backs, please?
|
Now this is a tremendous leap forward in the world of science/technology. I don't know why we haven't already thought of this. Now if another genius could think of a practical purpose for them we'd be even further ahead of the world tech race.
I reckon you would use ic chips for bait, but with only three in "exsistance" the limit would probably be....... none. Pretty fishies though. Pretty. |
Well... at least this one isn't likely to mistake you for a harp seal and decide to take a bite out of you just to see what you taste like.
|
They have black eyes, never trust an animal with black eyes...
|
With all the effort they put into the bodies, you'd think they would have made their faces a little prettier........but what do you expect from robot building geeks. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
|
I wonder if you use a worm for bait with those. Maybe they will make a trojan seahorse next.

I think the purpose is to figure out how to propel man made craft through the water as efficiently as fish..... and amuse the kiddies. Thank you, uh...thank you very much, but reserve genius for guys like Arnold Einstein:blush: |

The thing about a shark it's got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes...and when he comes at ya, he doesn't even seem to be livin'...till he bites ya, then those black eyes roll over white...
|
no cure for cancer, but at least we have this.
what a waste of fucking money. If I sent my kid to this school and he was part of this I'd put an end to his tuition *right quick*.

Surely if your child was at university reading Computer Science & studying robotics it would be a reasonable project to be part of? Personally I think they're beautiful in a slightly creepy way. but then I think that about real fish too! |
