1/11/2006: Cattle sacrifice

More cultural inhumanity to animals. These are heads of cattle sacrificed in the festival of "eid", in an Indonesian mosque.

Talk about a bad job to have.

They dont look very neatly severed.

I saw how cattle were treated in Indonesia on my recent trip there, i think i'd prefer to be a (brutally) severed head too.

Im probably wrong - but i thought most indonesians were budhist? dont budhists worship bovine?

They don't.
Point taken.
I think you may be thinking of Hindus. The buddhist position on vegetarianism varies among the very many sects of buddhism and its practioners. There are probably as many, if not more iterations of buddhism as there are of Christianity. Generally speaking, the cow is not more special than a cloud to a good buddhist who is in the throws of the absolute. Relatively speaking, they maybe have more compassion for the cow than for a cloud. Depends on the mood you catch them in.
;)

They died with their eyes open. :worried:

I hope they were looking the guy in his eye when he slit their throats. Sweet dreams to these 'nesians.

DAMN! I'd love me some HAPPY images.

It is the Hindus. How do you insert a link other than copy and paste?

"The Vedic culture is centered on sacrifice, and for sacrifice one requires ghee (clarified butter). Thus it is the cows which allow man to worship the Lord through sacrifice. "

Oooooooooooooookay then. Whatever makes you sleep better Mr. Vedic

Indonesia Has the largest Muslim population in the world of any country, nation.

xoxoxoBruce 01-11-2006 08:42 PM

Cattle, goats, camels, maybe a mother-in-law or two, slaughtered and eaten in the spirit of Abraham's willingness to slaughter his son if it's God's will.
A very old custom that results in some grisly pictures because of the number of animals sacrificed in one day.
But it's not a senseless slaughter like honor killings or terrorists attacks. The animals are eaten by the celebrants including the people too poor to have an animal to offer up.

All of these backwater cultures need to get with the program so they don't have to linger on these archaic rituals. Once they are advanced enough socially and technologically they can just concentrate on killing other people exclusively like us.

Check the calendar. If it's NOT Friday and you see an animal mentioned in the title, consider carefully before you click.

The only difference 'tween him and you is him don't have an Acme (or Krogers, Albertsons, Price Chopper, Grand Union, Giant, A&P, Piggly-Wiggly, Safeway, Food Lion, etc., etc.)

Its a tradition just like the slaughter en eating of a sheep with Muslims....they do give it to guests and poor, but more and more muslims do it over here and i see all of them going to cut the throat themself...Ok we eat animals aswell, but i dont wanna kill it myself, i dont want my friends or children to see me kill an animal... It all happens with the butcher...where i dont have to see the blood and eyes looking at me...It may be hypocrit but its more controlled then just take an animal and kll it, i know young Muslim-men who dont even like it but do the killing because its a sacrifice they make... Seems that his parents depend on him while there are other familymembers that could do it to... With Hindus a cow is sacred , that gives us a balance maybe...Every day there are millions of animals killed for consumption...there is enough meat without anyone having to kill some themself...

it's a gruesome world we all take part in. have your say while you can, ultimately we all end up like the cows.
