Bikes are tough for those long stretches of nothing(Kansas) where you'd be squirming even in the most comfortable car. They are outstanding where the scenery is great but those are also the places the other drivers are paying least attention to little things like what lane they're in.

Ever see those B-movies where a "biker gang" terrorizes a family in the station wagon by riding along side beating on the car with chains and clubs? What a crock-o-shit! Even in near misses....the biker loses...believe me....every time.
The same applies to deer, trees, potholes, road debris, sand, ad nauseum.
I've known guys that rode for years...100k miles or more without a bad one. But the odds are getting worse all the time....can you say cell phones?
