I have my evangelical moments, mostly pressing the luddite issue. I run a mac because it was what I learned on.
I did take a computer graphics course in college we learned halo and turbo pascal if memory serves (1992). anyway after plugging away for hours at some simple program that produced a series of ripples in a pond, I turned to look at what my classmate, ten years my junior had wrought.

He was so slouched down in his chair, he was practically supine, his eyes were motionless, his lids like wet chamois draped over marbles. meanwhile his fingers chattered away at the keyboard until he shoved himself away from the desk with his feet and hit "return".

His screen exploded into color. Galaxies growing, expanding, then collapsing upon themselves spiraling into billowing waves of irridescent colors. Endlessly exploding, parading, fading, melting...

I asked him: "You've done this kind of thing before, haven't you?"

"Yeah, in junior high."

I knew I had other rows to hoe.
