I like both sites. Diversity of interaction encourages growth. I'll probably be posting "here" more than "there" - so get your ignore buttons warmed up if you don't like to think.
All the above aside, it's pretty well accepted, and proven, that individuals, who may well in normal circumstances have differences and take odds with each other within their own 'society', when faced with a common cause will forget their differences and present a united front. Nothing disturbing in that - more disturbing if it was not then case.

This 'united front' is most commonly illustrated in times of war and aggression, and a less fatal example would be the way the unusual arrival (onslaught?) of the AG dwellars was countered by the members of the Cellar -you could almost in those early days describe two distinct and opposing camps and cultures - it was easy to generalise. With time the individual personalities revealed themselves and the generalisation of two distinct camps mellowed - individual views and arguments now blur and dilute the first impression of there being two separate and opposing sets of people (perhaps they could have been described as two different societies...).

So, we are all individuals who share certain ideals (our society). We don't generally feel the need to broadcast what our ideals are, we more or less take them as read and for granted by virtue of the type of people we prefer to mix with (mostly sharing simliar views and interests but capable of debating and arguing in those areas where there are differences). But if we are tested or threatened then we will certainly band together to protect our common ideals and the things we hold dear.i
