I see it as either one of the following two situations:
1) We were created by Jehovah God, who gave us absolute dominion over all the animals. Bang! Dinner!
2) We evolved side-by-side with the deer, and are therefore their contemporaries. This means that no one was anywhere before anyone else. What, do you think indigenous peoples didn't like a venison haunch every now and again?
Now, if one chooses to be fuzzy-squishy, and not kill or eat deer (etc), then great, that is an individual choice. However, I have to balk at the notion that those who choose to hunt and consume the critters are somehow *wrong*. Also, if we have allowed the population to get out of hand so that we can't help but run over them with our cars, we are also doing them a disservice, but I'm not volunteering to be the one to insert Depo subcutaneous devices to keep them from reproducing.
