Jones Beach, NY, had the red flags out.
The beach was closed to swimmers because the remnants of Hurricane Ernesto was causing big, rough surf.
The lifeguards, however, were on duty. Not to pull people out but to keep people out.
Since most people were not stupid enough to attempt it the lifeguards had a lot of time on their hands.....to amuse themselves.
