Lions, Tigers, and Ham Fighters

One down and one more to go. I'm talking about the Red Sox acquiring two Japanese players. The one we got is lefty reliever Hideki Okajima. He used to play for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.

Hideki Okajima

The one we paid over 51-million just to talk to is Daisuke Matsuzaka of the Seibu Lions. If we sign him, we'll have two Japanese players to match the Yankess two; they have their own Hideki in Hideki Matsui, and they paid over 26-million to talk to Kei Igawa from the Hanshin Tigers.

Here is Matsuzaka. He looks like a "playa" if you know what I mean.

Here's Kei Igawa, likely to become another hated Japanese Yankee.

So, what did the former Ham Fighter and new Red Socker have to say?

"My name is Hideki Okajima, and I like Boston. Call me Okaji."
