There are many, most are minor. When I read the Brit versions, they are comfort food for the brain. The American verisons jar and don't feel right. But the changes are hard to spot, and I found a site that told me why. Unfortunatlely i can't find it now and i didn't bookmark it, but....
It listed over 160 changes in the first book! (yes, every difference was documented).....
If the Americans are likely to understand a word and it's context, then it won't be changed. otherwise it will. eg pavement becomes sidewalk, but road does not become street and car park does not become parking lot. Fair enough, I'm used to this.
But... if there is a concept which does not translate, the entire sentence or even paragraph is dumped. Surrounding areas are adjusted 1984 style.
So you only know what you are missing if you read both. And probably being British helps too.
