We have one of those things, UT. The only thing it's good for is picking up things that must be picked up very, very gently. Pulling certain bread products up off the baking pan, for example. But yes, for the most part, completely useless.
Along those lines, my old credit card company used to offer me crap products in every single bill--"just send in this flyer and pay only $4.95 S&H for your complimentary gift item!" I succumbed to buying only one of them, a little socket wrench set. The case is so cheap it makes the whole thing look like a toy... but actually, it gets the job done, and amazingly it has survived semi-regular use even to this day.
