Wow, o.k.
Not long ago the U.S. had a small finacial hic up. Here is a FACT. In January of this year, the world found out about the Housing Debacle in the US. Many may loose their homes here. Quite a hit on our market, the markets in Europe and Asia in fear, lost almost 8% in hours. One market in Asia was closed before noon their time to keep it from crashing any more. We have a financiall hic up, and the world catches a cold, damn in Jan they had pneumonia.
This is the current economic reality of the world. It may change in the future, perhaps it should, it is the way of the world.
To quote one financial journalist:"Over the past year, central bankers, newsletter editors and economists have sung the praises of the strength of all those economies we watched crashing last Monday. After all, they have extraordinary trade balances. And yet, all it takes to derail their stock markets is a few thousand U.S. homeowners with patchy credit reports to fall behind on their three-bedroom McMansion." — J. Christoph Amberger
I do agree that Americans, on the whole, are woefully ignorant of the rest of the world, and our role in creating our future, as well as the global interdependence that we share. Our quest to save on the bottom line, and make more money will undoubtedly continue to drive companies to find cheaper labor then on U.S. soil, and build foreign economies. Some day in the far off future China may be outsourcing to the the U.S. because we will have people who will do anything for 20 hours a day for very little pay, and the cycle will continue. Perhaps not.
Perhaps you are trying to tell me that when millions of Americans irresponsibly borrow more money then they can pay back, from institutions greedy enough to lend that money.....bad things will happen. I'm not ignorant of this fact. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
More to the point of this thread, I do not believe that "Zeitgeist" the movie is an educational tool. It is yet another media outlet of misinformation based on a little fact and a lot of fiction trying to sway the opinion of the watcher. It seems to have worked.
