I do believe in contributing, I just prefer to contribute when I know the money is being spent efficiently. For instance before I donate to a charity, I check them out at
http://www.charitynavigator.org to see how much of the money they collect goes toward overhead costs, and how much gets to the people who need it.
After speaking to Tony, I was convinced that he could host this site with an equal amount of bandwidth or more for a lot less than he is paying because he chooses to host it at his house rather than having it on a virtual server at a major hosting company or even a dedicated server.
For instance here's a site that offers unlimited bandwidth, unlimited sites, and unlimited disk storage for $8/month. Even if you go with a dedicated server of your own, their most expensive package is less money than what Tony is paying.
