To be honest, the grades often mean next to nothing; it's all about the test scores. The valedictorian in Bumblefuck, Texas would barely be in the top third of my high school class in a large educated city, you know? Not saying this was the situation with Zlet #1, just that nobody looks at grades anymore unless it's an odd mismatch, like someone with a perfect SAT score but barely passing senior year. Especially with grade inflation so rampant--our valedictorian graduated with
higher than a 4.0 because of the way my school weighted honors classes.
