It's like this: a cast iron skillet is iron, yes? You would look at a cast-iron skillet and say, "Oh, this is iron."

But iron is not a cast iron skillet. You would not look at a block of iron and say, "Oh, this is a cast iron skillet."

Similarly, DU is U-238. But U-238 is not DU.
