Microsoft Installer relies on an internal database, and a lot of files stored in C:\windows\installer. Sometimes the DB gets corrupt in older versions of the product.
You perhaps by chance didn't delete any of those files, did you?  |
Anything is possible. Sometimes I get deletion happy, followed by deletion sad.
