There were a couple that I was slightly puzzled by. Like you though, I hadn't taken on board the category. For instance: Mother-in-law...well, we use that too! But of course in categories it was housing type. We say 'granny flat'.
There were also a few that actually we also use. Such as: 'baked potato' which was down as a US term with our j'acket potato' as UK equivalent. In truth both terms are used here. If you go to a cafe, it's a 'baked potato' that will be on sale most often.
