I nearly got caught by a PayPal scam IRL.
I logged into to PayPal to check it rather than follow the link. Just out of habit - I wanted to keep my hotmail open as I had a lot of emails to get through.
I got the Bank of Choice one wrong (because it looks nothing like a mail I would receive) and the IRS one wrong. But again - foreigner here.
I get phishing mails in cycles. None for ages then a slew.
But I spot them and report them immediately.
They all purport to be from banks, building societies and credit card companies. Many people will have online accounts with them, but I don't.
In fact I had one from Marks & Spencers the other day, warning me that there may have been some fraudulent activity on my M&S card, taking me over my agreed limit of £1000. Had a good chortle at that one. But I guess it's a common credit limit so it would work on the right people.
