Heh, I slipped it for years. Got to where I'd leave the kitchen sparkling in the evening, go to bed, get up in the morning to find it looking like twelve dwarves had feasted and left ... clean it up, get irritated, ask them to clean up after themselves, rinse, repeat - until by the end of the holidays I had steam coming out of my ears.

No more. They make a mess, they clean it. The hard part is waiting them out. I just go outside, work in the den, whatever - I DO NOT make breakfast for them. They drift downstairs, realize there isn't a clean dish or pot and they can't eat until they clean, and voila. I drift back in and snag some breakfast that THEY made and then leave again.

To be fair - my kids did an awesome job with Christmas dinner yesterday. Totally nailed it. Did all the shopping and prep, cooking, plating, cleaning. I was so impressed (and thankful)! Yay adult kids!
