A birthday surprise is already a surprise!
You know it's the words that matter most, but I am excited about the surprise too
Yay, here's to raising a glass (of fozzy water) together next year. Us sick old crocks have to take care of eachother.
Feeling my age today (no jokes about anyone else wanting to feel my... age). We worked hard yesterday to get the place looking good for Dad. I think Mum thinks she's been slacking off a bit while Dad was in hospital. As if - most days she was doing the six hour round trip to see him (two hours public transport, the rest of the time spent with him).
And it's not like Dad would notice any extra housework done; but it made Mum happy anyway. She mowed the lawn - something he would have noticed - and I did the weeding. I had to contort into various shapes to reach some beds and I seem to have punished my shoulders and upper thigh muscles in the process.
What a way to spend a birthday, wincing every time I sit down!
Better get used to it, old age is coming...
