I never liked ingesting it. When I smoke I can feel it coming on. I just smoke a few puffs, then leave it a little, and if I start to feel it I can choose whether to keep smoking or set it aside for a while.
Eating it, you're committed. If you happen to have a strong batch, or you happen to be particularly susceptible to the effects on that night, then you can end up getting a lot higher than you might want to be.
In that sense it's almost more like a trip.
That said, I have had some pleasant encounters with the cooked stuff.
If you're going to try it, start small and test the waters.
