Anyways, I thought ob/gyns are gentler than regular doctors for those kinds of check-ups. WRONG! Maybe I need to change clinic. While both of the docs I saw were nice, I found them to be a bit patronizing. Or is it me? Maybe I need to have a more authoritative vibe.

Soreness at TDaP injection site is normal, no need to worry. Any IM injection of 1 cc causes soreness, never mind the slight swelling it should induce as your immune system kicks in. Which is to say, all is well, Lola.
As for OB/GYNs being gentler ... hard to say. Maybe your doc just did what was necessary and actually got the necessary samples, as opposed to someone who puts your comfort above all and doesn't actually do what's needed.
However,'patronizing' is NEVER acceptable as an attitude during an exam, or any other sort of appointment. If you got this vibe, go elsewhere next time.
