When I was little, I was interested in all kinds of wildlife and would regularly truck home turtles, stray dogs, injured birds, once a fish and various snakes. One day I found a very pretty, colourful
snake in the woods next to my school. It seemed to be dead, but would make suspicious movements from time to time. I used a stick to transport it home to find out what it was. I looked it up in my Encyclopedia of Animal Life. It turned out to be a coral snake, a highly venomous reptile that will play dead if threatened and bite only if it has no other choice. Lucky me I thought of the stick.
