What the domestic Iraqi resistance says

Making the rounds:

http://www.informationclearinghouse....rticle7468.htm

Quote:
The media platoon of the Islamic Jihad Army. On the 27th of Shawal 1425h. 10 December 2004

People of the world! These words come to you from those who up to the day of the invasion were struggling to survive under the sanctions imposed by the criminal regimes of the U.S. and Britain .

We are simple people who chose principles over fear.

We have suffered crimes and sanctions, which we consider the true weapons of mass destruction.

Years and years of agony and despair, while the condemned UN traded with our oil revenues in the name of world stability and peace.

Over two million innocents died waiting for a light at the end of a tunnel that only ended with the occupation of our country and the theft of our resources.

After the crimes of the administrations of the U.S and Britain in Iraq , we have chosen our future. The future of every resistance struggle ever in the history of man.

It is our duty, as well as our right, to fight back the occupying forces, which their nations will be held morally and economically responsible; for what their elected governments have destroyed and stolen from our land.

We have not crossed the oceans and seas to occupy Britain or the U.S. nor are we responsible for 9/11. These are only a few of the lies that these criminals present to cover their true plans for the control of the energy resources of the world, in face of a growing China and a strong unified Europe . It is Ironic that the Iraqi's are to bear the full face of this large and growing conflict on behalf of the rest of this sleeping world.

We thank all those, including those of Britain and the U.S. , who took to the streets in protest against this war and against Globalism. We also thank France , Germany and other states for their position, which least to say are considered wise and balanced, til now.

Today, we call on you again.

We do not require arms or fighters, for we have plenty.

We ask you to form a world wide front against war and sanctions. A front that is governed by the wise and knowing. A front that will bring reform and order. New institutions that would replace the now corrupt.

Stop using the U.S. dollar, use the Euro or a basket of currencies. Reduce or halt your consumption of British and U.S. products. Put an end to Zionism before it ends the world. Educate those in doubt of the true nature of this conflict and do not believe their media for their casualties are far higher than they admit.

We only wish we had more cameras to show the world their true defeat.

The enemy is on the run. They are in fear of a resistance movement they can not see nor predict.

We, now choose when, where, and how to strike. And as our ancestors drew the first sparks of civilization, we will redefine the word “conquest.“

Today we write a new chapter in the arts of urban warfare.

Know that by helping the Iraqi people you are helping yourselves, for tomorrow may bring the same destruction to you.

In helping the Iraqi people does not mean dealing for the Americans for a few contracts here and there. You must continue to isolate their strategy.

This conflict is no longer considered a localized war. Nor can the world remain hostage to the never-ending and regenerated fear that the American people suffer from in general.

We will pin them here in Iraq to drain their resources, manpower, and their will to fight. We will make them spend as much as they steal, if not more.

We will disrupt, then halt the flow of our stolen oil, thus, rendering their plans useless.

And the earlier a movement is born, the earlier their fall will be.

And to the American soldiers we say, you can also choose to fight tyranny with us. Lay down your weapons, and seek refuge in our mosques, churches and homes. We will protect you. And we will get you out of Iraq , as we have done with a few others before you.

Go back to your homes, families, and loved ones. This is not your war. Nor are you fighting for a true cause in Iraq .

And to George W. Bush, we say, “You have asked us to ‘Bring it on’, and so have we. Like never expected. Have you another challenge?”

I wonder if their heads would leave at the same time as their bodies?
What is it about this piece that makes me think it wasn't written by Iraquis?
Any one or group that claims to be "simple" is/are definately not.
Jihad brothers, rise up against the Great Satan and.......boycott. Yeah, right.

it reminds of how white scriptwriters made the indians sound in old western movies. flowery language, and slightly unique grammar. i'd be willing to bet that this wasn't written by an iraqi any more than that big Hoo-Ah letter afew months ago, was written by a real marine.

my guess is a couple of folks got too cold from standing on the corner waving "Now War For Oil" signs so they came inside just long enough to write this letter.

NYT: Thomas Friedman examines this picture

Quote:
There has been so much violence in Iraq that it's become hard to distinguish one senseless act from another. But there was a picture that ran on the front page of this newspaper on Monday that really got to me. It showed several Iraqi gunmen, in broad daylight and without masks, murdering two Iraqi election workers. The murder scene was a busy street in the heart of Baghdad. The two election workers had been dragged from their car into the middle of the street. They looked young, the sort of young people you'd see doing election canvassing in America or Ukraine or El Salvador.

One was kneeling with his arms behind his back, waiting to be shot in the head. Another was lying on his side. The gunman had either just pumped a bullet into him or was about to. I first saw the picture on the Internet, and I did something I've never done before - I blew it up so it covered my whole screen. I wanted to look at it more closely. You don't often get to see the face of pure evil.
...
As the Johns Hopkins foreign policy expert Michael Mandelbaum so rightly pointed out to me, "These so-called insurgents in Iraq are the real fascists, the real colonialists, the real imperialists of our age." They are a tiny minority who want to rule Iraq by force and rip off its oil wealth for themselves. It's time we called them by their real names.

However this war started, however badly it has been managed, however much you wish we were not there, do not kid yourself that this is not what it is about: people who want to hold a free and fair election to determine their own future, opposed by a virulent nihilistic minority that wants to prevent that. That is all that the insurgents stand for.
When you look at this picture do you know which side you are on?
Quote:
Indeed, they haven't even bothered to tell us otherwise. They have counted on the fact that the Bush administration is so hated around the world that any opponents will be seen as having justice on their side. Well, they do not. They are murdering Iraqis every day for the sole purpose of preventing them from exercising that thing so many on the political left and so many Europeans have demanded for the Palestinians: "the right of self-determination."

Sorry, Mom taught me never to join in criminal enterprises no matter how lucrative. I'm against the side using violence to impose its world view on other people. Freidman has no credibility, he demanded this excursion then pretended to be apalled by it and now is back on board. I call shenanigans.

Since all sides involved are using violence to impose their world view on other people, that doesn't leave you with a lot of allies in Iraq, ideologically speaking...

In another story they captured a police station, took all the cops out and shot them then blew up the station. How in hell did they capture a police station with all these cops still alive. Didn't they know they would be killed if they lost the station? Stupid, stupid people. Get out now there's no hope for these fools.

The cops that were shot were probably fools. They worked for Americans when insurgents were coming. Smart Iraqis get paid by Americans and never show up when the shooting starts. Their peers are the insurgents.

Good Morning Vietnam. The insurgents are everywhere. They are the police. They are the American trained army. Do you think it was an accident that Americans went to lunch in Mosul while Iraqi National Guardsmen at that base never appeared for lunch? Why? Notice who were not at lunch when the suicide bomber walked in. Welcome to Vietnam where any Iraqi may be the enemy - no matter what uniform he wears.

America created this mess starting with no Phase Four plans ... 7 months after "Mission Accomplished". Five months after the country should have had electricity and civil services everywhere, finally the mental midget president finally decided to execute Phase Four planning. Administration finally decided to restore those services and create civil order. After months of looting, the mental midget president finally decided to deal with well understood and predicted problems - while Rumsfeld said there was no looting (just like a look alike called McNamara did 30 some years previous).

So a mental midget president fires the Iraqi police and army - and created even more insurgents.

There is no law and order. The Joint Chiefs - using basic human intelligence - correctly predicted what would be necessary. A minimum of 200,000 troops for at least 2 years. Instead we MBAed Iraq. We cost controlled to peace. One need only look at Tobias's posts to see how we did nothing. We had no Phase Four plans. Instead we have an MBA president who never ran a successful organization. So now he will run a conquered nation? Now we need 300,000 soldiers, minimum, for up to 5 years. Instead we have about 1/2 that required number.

So the Secretary of State finally tells this point blank to George Jr and Tony Blair simultaneously. He says we have too few troops in country. The mental midget president sends in a trivial 12,000 more troops. Classic MBA solution. Cost control it.

An Iraqi battalion in Mosul learns that insurgents are coming from Falluga. Immediately 250 of the 500 Guardsmen don't show up. They were there only for the money - the only jobs available. Others desert when sent in to defend 6,000 policemen in police stations. IOW the Battalion had less than 100 soldiers. You tell me. Who is the enemy of Iraq? Anyone who actually works for Americans.

The smart Policemen? Put on masks and looted the police stations.

Iraqis are not dumb - except the ones who actually acted as American policemen. Patriots ARE the insurgents - in too many cases. Were 6000 Mosul policemen shot? Of course not. They were only policemen when it was safe and they were getting paid by Americans. They are not dumb.

It is rediculous to not expect this picture. Change the landscape and we have Vietnam all over again. Those (like a mental midget president) who failed to learn their history are doomed to repeat it. Good Morning Vietnam. The name of the book is "Making of a Quagmire". Except it was already written 41 years ago.
