Butterface?

This is a trivia question: What is a butterface?

Is it the misplaced application of a pearl necklace?

One of our younger student workers brought up that term...I was surprised how many people didn't get its context. Wasn't that phrase around when I was younger (i.e. a LONG time ago?)

My guess would have been something that involved spreading easily. Except butter doesn't. And it's not the face that people hope to spread.

Am assuming here it's a phrase used about women. I will eat humble pie if I'm wrong, but it sounds derogatory and that's the pattern....

No humble pie for me today! Just as well, have chicken & mushroom pie in the fridge.

I hope you don't think I was referring to you! I was just using it in a sentence, as Shawnee asked. You are entirely lovely.

Thanks chick! Sorry - I'm not communicating very well in this thread. I was responding to the fact that you gave the answer to the question (which I didn't know) and that as predicted it was a term used by a man about a woman. Hence me being able to have my intended tea, rather than a helping of the old humble pie (which I keep in the freezer for emergencies).

You're all lovely people.

I am sometimes amazed at the differences between the younger set and my generation...when did I get to be 40-something?

I still think I"m only 25!

That was my only point. Sorry for the confusion!
