Donations
I think it's ironic that I get monthly requests from the Alzheimer's Association for donations. They must think I'll have forgotten how recently I gave.

They gave me some forget-me-not seeds, but I forgot to plant them.

I think there must be some register or list that charities can get hold of, or maybe they list share. When they find someone who gives, they share it around.
It's amazing how many charities call us. As we speak, I've got one lot of raffle tickets on the bookcase waiting for the draw. Another lot are due to arrive next week some time. We also have a money tin to put spare change in for a different charity. Aside from that, we subscribe to lifesavers and also amnesty international and green peace. I think we're the charity cases.

We get calls constantly from various organizations, once you give they call back about every 3 months or at least every year from the date that you gave the first time. United Way, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Children's Wish Foundation, Faternal Order of Police, Handicapped/Blind - just to name a few.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Shawnee, and I am the regional representative for the Coalition for a Saner America.
As you know, we live in stressful times. But YOU can make a difference. With just a $20 donation, you will receive a year's subscription to Sane Times, which is published biannually. With only a $50 dollar donation, you will also receive a Sane Times clock radio. Remember, your donation is tax deductible, and just imagine the feeling of pride you'll have as you look out your window and see a less-stressed, saner, gentler world. Won't you please give? All donations can be sent to: Coalition for a Saner America c/o Shawnee 12554 Boulevard St. Crappicus, OH 45555

My wife has gone a little overboard with donations (as I told her last weekend). I don't even look anymore, but it's thousands of dollars per year. I have very mixed feelings about charities, particularly those run by religious organizations.

Absolutely. Even the illusion of money coming in will do me good.

Shawnee - are contributions to your coalition tax deductible? I could print out your post and slip it in between the Humane Society notice and the MS request in my wife's mail.
