Gran Torino
Would probably not have seen this movie otherwise, but Tester-San's brother is deploying to Iraq, and wanted to have a get-together, so he, T-S, another friend, T-S's cousin and I went to see Grand Torino. (T-S's brother's wife and young daughter went to see Hotel for Dogs, which they enjoyed very much).
Gran Torino is not the movie that I expected. Or rather, I really didn't know what to expect, other than Clint Eastwood doing his gravelly voiced best as a crotchety old man who had stayed behind in a neighborhood that was passing him by. It was funny, tense, exciting, frustrating, and bittersweet. Also, I think I may have learned a couple of new racial epithets. The scenes with the barber were hilarious. All in all, it was quite good, and I'm glad that T-S thought ahead and had plenty of tissues for the end.

Million Dollar Baby was probably the last Clint Eastwood movie I will ever see.

I didn't like M.D.B that much? I hated the ending.
I don't know. I guess I am burnt out on C.E. Maybe I watched too many of his spaghetti westerns when I was younger I guess. ( an after thought) I am not going to go watch Harrison Ford bust-a-move in his new Indiana Jones movie either. :P |

I won't see Million Dollar Baby because I despise boxing, and like Hillary Swank even less than boxing.
Don't understand the burnt out thing. I can pretty much watch his movies over and over and over and over ... The character was perfect for Clint. He's not making the mistake of trying to play too young or too athletic, or too anything else. He's also a darn fine director. And singer, for that matter.

I never saw MDB...just doesn't appeal to me, but that wouldn't keep me away from a good CE film.
And as I walked out of the 3rd Indy Jones movie because it was just so lame, I won't do the latest installment of that either. Oh Harrison, what have ye done?
