Dog Breed ID help
My friends got a 'found' dog. This is big...SHE is a neat freak who isn't really into pets. HE is a neat freak too but has always wanted a dog. This is a nice dog. He's all puppy (I have the gouge in my hand to prove it...I was playing tug of war with him and he tried to grab up as they do.)
His face seems to have a bit of pit bull or the like. He does have a really strong jaw, but so do a lot of puppies. He's obviously not pedigree anything but we can't place what all he might be. His feet aren't huge so I don't think he'll get huge, but he's going to be a good-sized dog. (asides: note the Cleveland Browns dawg statues and the Cincy Bengals throw rug...hahaha...they are huge Browns fans. Someone must have given them the bengals blanket as a joke. The yellow stuffed toy is a gift I gave him: you put empty plastic water bottles in it and they chew the crap out of them. Dogs love to chew plastic bottles so this is a lot of fun for him. However, the other day I was over there and yellow stuffy is a lot worse for the wear! He was sticking his nose in it 'cause there was no water bottle in it. Gawd he's hilarious.) Anyway, any of you dog folks have any ideas? Sorry the pics aren't great. Last edited by infinite monkey; 04-05-2014 at 12:14 PM. |

More (I really need one of him standing there, but he's either jumping around or sleeping!)

Oh, and the assumption was made that he was fixed, 'cause he's got little tiny balzacs. Then we hear that pit bulls don't drop their balls until later.
And I think he has webbed feet. Seemed webbed to me. I need to take him to the pond to see if he takes to swimming. He may have some retriever in him. Obviously he'll be at the vet for a puppy check and they may know more, but I just thought I'd check with y'all. |

Yeah, pit mix. Looks like a lovely little dude. I'd guess retriever as well but if he's smaller he could have some beagle tucked in there. Aife is a lab beagle mix and her color is the same but her ears dump over more.

In some pics he looks like he has some pit, in other pics, I see a little Mountain Cur, too. Maybe.
Good lookin' dog.

His face is quite slimline for a pit. Definitely some terrier in there. Maybe some retriever as well.

Thanks all. My friend was really excited about getting responses. I was over there yesterday visiting the dog, um...err, my friends.
'Vana, what sort of dog is yours? The ears are similar. Obviously this dog is a big old mix of breeds; we're just interested in what some of those breeds might be. I have more pictures on my phone. Getting ready to post them. |

Possibly Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Yellow Lab influence?
I doubt a 50/50 mix but colouring and general 'stamp' point in that direction. Just my two penn'orth.
