That's what I thought, but comparing the ingredients between this and our superglue bottle made them look very different. Plus, I've gotten superglue on my fingers many times--I can definitely feel the heat of the exothermic reaction, and it gets all white and crusty and won't come off for weeks. This stuff is cold, and peels off in a single sheet after about 24 hours.

Superglue won't set as long as it's in contact with air, you have to squeeze two surfaces together to make it work. I imagine New Skin is more like that liquid vinyl and will dry like paint.

Superglue also needs moisture to catalyze, that's why it's great at gluing skin, and doesn't work so well in the winter in shops heated with a woodstove.

Schwarzkopf got2b Powder'ful Vol Style Powder.
Spelling not mine. I have very fine hair. Since I've known you, my hair has been getting shorter and shorter. I think I had hair extensions when we met. But it's still fine and flat. This powder is wonderful. It also seems to absorb grease, so I can go longer between hair washes. I'm not dirty or lazy - at least I hope not - but I do try to retain the colour in my hair for as long as possible. So the less washes the better. I mean I'm only talking 3-4 days instead of 1-2. This also gives my hair enough volume to give it life. I wore hatats/ waterproofs for much of my stay on Arran, but the few photos without a lid hopefully show perky hair.

North Face zip-off hiking pants "Paramount".
Tough, wind resisting pants with zip off legs, sensibly cut, well finished. They claim to be water resistant. They are. They claim to be quick drying. They are. They claim to UV blocking ... not yet tested, but plausible. They have ankle zips so you can remove the lower legs without removing your boots. And the little icing on the cake that wins them my endorsement... if you've ever had zip-off pants, you've probably had that moment where you have to figure out which leg goes on which side. NF have colour coded the zips - red zip, right leg; black zip, left leg. Simple, no added cost, and quite effective. And tells me the designers actually field tested these products. Oh and they were on special, 'cause I'm way too cheap to spend $120 on a pair of pants ... but $50 (for a good pair) is reasonable.

I bought a pair of Chinese coveralls (back when I weighed 160# and could fit in Chinese clothes) In addition to zipping up the front You could also zip the top from the bottom. This made no sense to me until the first time I was wearing them and had to take a dump.
Very clever those Chinese...

Where do you find Chinese coveralls? Would they fit someone 6'2"?

1. This was in Brattleboro, Vt in 1980. I don't remember where I found them.
2. Only if the person had a double, above the knee amputation. j/k I'm 6' and they were a bit high-water on me and I think I had the triple extra extra large size. Now, it's really bugging me about where I found them. Maybe Northampton, Ma? I'm pretty sure it wasn't mail order.

Home Depot has a neat (new ?) painter's drop cloth....4 x 9 ft
A plastic film on one side and absorbent paper on the other, It just saved my butt. TIP: Once you've had your floors re-finished and you suddenly decide to paint the walls, don't leave the paint brush in a round-bottom, plastic, bowl half-full of paint. Signed, Karma |

Greencaine topical numbing gel.
It's inconvenient to use, to be sure. You don't rub it in, you have to slather on a very thick layer and hold it in place with a bandaid or even saran wrap for at least 45-60 minutes in order to achieve real numbing of the area. But if you have to stick a needle in the arm of a 5-year-old, and you've got the time to plan ahead... works like a goddamn charm. Absolutely worth the purchase price. |
