Musically, I think....overallllllll, .....i prefer Jimi. he's just so fucking groovy.
.......but the Dead created a lifestyle. That's pretty big. I followed them around the country for a substantial amount of my youth. so, um......er The Grateful Dead

BTW, I never anticipated a future world where, in a forum rock voting thing, the Top 8 would include Talking Heads, Pink Floyd and Yes. Some how in the last 30 years the world veered off in the right direction. Amazing.

I still say Rush deserved on there more than Talking Heads. And the fact that Nirvana made it as far as they did disgusts me.
EDIT: My prediction is Floyd vs. Yes in the finals, with Yes winning by a whisker... or Floyd winning by a whisker, I don't reeeeally know. I see Zeppelin vs. Floyd and Yes vs. the Dead in the semifinal, with Yes and Floyd triumphing. Last edited by Ibby; 04-26-2006 at 01:52 AM. |

Well, I'm bummed out that The Cranberries didn't make the Final Four. But, the matchups were brutal.
Still, where were Blondie, No Doubt and Jefferson Airplane? I guess they settled for the National Invitation Tournament.

I'm glad No Doubt didn't make it, I'm sorry. But Ziggy/David Bowie and the Spiders should have been on here, as should have the Alan Parsons Project, The Allman Brothers Band, The Boomtown Rats, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, CCR, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Iron Maiden, the Black Crowes, Motley Crue, Mr. Big, Niacin, Primus, The Ramones, Racer X, Ratt, Scorpions, Sex Pistols, Spinal Tap, Steppenwolf, the Stray Cats, Tally Hall, The Temptations, Three Dog Night, Van Halen, Weather Report, Whitesnake, XTC, and ZZ Top.

This is a toughie but I'm going with Hendrix. His version of All Along the Watchtower is powerful, freaky stuff. And he did an ode to bipolar disorder. Cool.

I'm going with the Dead.
But saying one is better than the other is like saying an ice cream cone is better than shrimp. |
