There is a UK movie that didn't get much press here in the US called "Millions". It's maybe the most perfect family movie ever made - innocent enough for children, but complex and wonderfully made. See it.
The rest of the list: Crash (2004) Hotel Rhwanda (2004) Cinderella Man (2005) Finding Neverland (2004) Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) Secondhand Lions (2003) The Incredibles (2003)

Have to add:
Keeping Mum Nice Patrick Swayze, Rowan Atkinson and Maggie Smith black comedy in the true 'Ealing' style - it won't win, but is one to get out on DVD if you fancy something light and chuckly to watch....(suppose it should go in the DVD thread but probably everyone interested is looking here anyway at the moment, and, hey, it's lazy Friday...)

Serenety is thirded. I don't much watch movies anymore, I have about the same contempt for modern movies as I do for modern music. But Firefly/Serenety are really good, getting the right balance between sci-fi and old-fashioned, funny and serious, inane and intellectual.

Millions is a good movie, but my kids would be scared to see it. There are a few frightening scenes. (For little kids.)

Points of procedure:
- By general consensus we treat the LOTR films as one. Anyone disagrees speak now or forever hold your peace. - There was no consensus on the Harry Potter movies, the floor is open to debate this question. - After figuring out the Potter matter, there will be a massive renomination round of all films nominated once. |

Might as well lump Harry Potter together too.

LOTR is one story set over three films
Potter is a series of stories set in the same place with the same people. Treat LOTR as one, treat Potter individually.

Sorry to keep being the movie Nazi, but The Matrix (1) was released in 1999.

Like LOTR, it's one movie released in three segments, IMHO.

Go along with Smoothmoniker - LOTR = 1, HP = several
